The Tour Itinerary

 
Day 1. Tbilisi - David Gareja Monastery - Sighnaghi (City of Love) - Telavi 298 km
Tusheti Tour starts with the departure from Tbilisi early in the morning, to the direction of Gareja desert (driving distance 100 km) - rock-hewn Georgian Orthodox monastery complex, located in a semi-desert, was established in the 6th century by Holz father David, one of the thirteen Assyrian monks, arrived in Georgia and preached the name of Christ. The monasteries consist of 19 religious buildings. Trekking in David Gareja monastery for 1.5-2 hours.
Afterward, the pre-Tusheti tour continues to Sighnaghi through a village Badiauri to see how Georgian bread breaks traditionally and visiting holy place for Georgians - Bodbe Monastery, where is buried St. Nino, who brought Christianity in Georgia at the beginning of 4th century.
Then guests reach to Sighnaghi, which opens a nice view on river Alazani Valley and Great Caucasian mountains. Buildings in the city built in the style of southern Italian classicism with Georgian elements. The city is surrounded with a high defending wall, 4 km in length. The wall was rebuilt by King Erekle II in 1772.
 
In 2006, after restoration Sighnaghi got an additional status - the City of Love - the house of a registry in Sighnaghi is open 24 hours for marriage registering.
After catching a lot of memorable moments in Sighnaghi, the tour continues to Telavi - the administrative city of Kakheti region to recharge with energy for Tusheti Tour.

Day 2. Telavi - Omalo 100 km
In the morning, after Telavi sightseeings, the Tusheti Tour continues to Omalo through the most extremal mountainous road in Georgia. The distance of the road is only 100 km but 5 hours and sometimes even more (depends on the weather) is need to reach the largest village and center of Tusheti named Omalo (1880 m). The only access road to it is through the Abano pass (2826 m). The road lays on slopes and goes up over gorges of Tusheti.
After reaching Omalo guests visit the Tourist Center with the amazing view of village Omalo and the surrounding area. Here, in the center travelers can get maps, booklets and more useful information about Tusheti.

Day 3. Omalo - Dartlo - Diklo - Omalo. (If time permits Kvavlo, Parsma, Girevi) 55 km
After greeting impressive morning in Omalo, the Tusheti Tour continues with driving on the dirt road to Dartlo, a village on the 2000 meter altitude. If weather and road condition is relevant tour continues in Kvavlo, Parsma and Girevi.
After getting pleasure from breathtaking views and returning in Omalo, the tour continues to Diklo to explore other beautiful landscapes of Tusheti.

Day 4. Omalo - Dochu - Jvarboseli - Iliurta - Omalo 55 km
The second morning in Omalo and everyone feels how wonderful life is. Off-road Tusheti Tour continues to explore Jvartboseli and Iliurta. On the way, we will visit Dochu later middle ages village on 2050 meter altitude.
During the Tusheti Tour, a car cannot reach in Jvarboseli, So guests have an opportunity to explore this marvelous landscapes by foot in 30 minutes trekking and come back to the car to reach Iliurta.

Day 5. Omalo Tbilisi 215 km
The third morning in Omalo and It’s time to come back from unforgettable Tusheti mountains to the heart of Georgia - Tbilisi. On the way from Telavi to Tbilisi, guests are driven through the Gombori pass (1620 m) and visit Ujarma Fortress (residence of Georgian King Vakhtang in V century AD).
